Fertilization

Why fertilize?

Without nutrients, your lawn will eventually thin and may develop bare spots. Proper and timely fertilization will help keep the lawn healthy, which helps it resist disease and pests, and may prevent weeds from taking root.

Important points to keep in mind:

The best time to fertilize is when the grass is actively growing and can absorb the nutrients.

More is not better! In fact, too much fertilizer or improperly applied fertilizer may damage the lawn.

Liquid vs. Granular fertilizer

Lawn fertilizer is available in both liquid and granular form. Liquid fertilizer has the advantage of being immediately available for the roots to absorb it. Granular (dry) fertilizer requires the addition of watering or rain for the grass to obtain the benefit. However, the slow release of nutrients by using a granular fertilizer can actually be an advantage, since it allows for lawns to be fed slowly and avoids burning. This is extremely important when treating lawns during hot and dry weather, when the grass may already be suffering from stress. Granular fertilizer is also a more cost effective choice over liquid.

Our Service:

Because granular fertilizer is the more economical and safer alternative, Jano Lawncare Services LLC uses it for our residential customers.

We always make sure to blow any excess fertilizer off of paved surfaces back into grassy areas so that it does not contribute to environmental problems as run-off.
